Who owns the airspace above my house?
The federal government has jurisdiction over United States airspace - no individual may claim ownership of airspace over his or her property.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) controls air traffic operations, associated flight procedures, and regulates pilots, airports, aircraft, and aircraft movements (in the air and on the ground).
Air Traffic Controllers are employed by the U.S. government or by private companies that are contracted by the U.S. government.
